Jaguar Takes Number 1 Spot on the Top500 List
Jaguar’s whopping 2.33 petaflops of power earned it the title of the world’s fastest computer today at SC09. Jaguar assumed the number one spot on the Top500 list, a semiannual ranking of the world’s most powerful computers, jumping one spot from its second-place ranking last year. Located at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Jaguar is the scientific research community’s most powerful computational tool for exploring solutions to some of today’s most difficult problems, such as climate change and the development of new energy technologies.
