HPC Ops Group

The High-Performance-Computing (HPC) Operations Group keeps the unique NCCS leadership systems up and running. Staff are responsible for NCCS systems administration, configuration management, cybersecurity, and around-the-clock operations support. The group works with the NCCS infrastructure systems as well as its supercomputers. Staff members thoroughly test every system that is installed or upgraded. They also keep tabs on all the changes made to a system throughout its lifetime.

Staffers in the HPC Operations Group monitor all NCCS systems
24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. They anticipate problems before they arise, use diagnostic tools to ensure there is ample disk space, and identify hardware components that are near failure. The group also oversees cybersecurity for the NCCS. It monitors activity that is out
of the ordinary and ensures that NCCS systems conform
to ORNL cybersecurity policy.
