System Notifications
NCCS uses several methods to keep users informed about about events such as past and planned system outages, notable system events such as software upgrades, upcoming meetings, and more. These are described here.
System Status Emails
The NCCS offers its users the ability to subscribe to email lists that provide more timely updates than the standard weekly email notification. These notifications include unscheduled system downtimes, system operating issues (such as the scheduler being disabled), system returned to service messages, downtime summaries, etc. Because of the increased amount of traffic on these lists, users are not automatically subscribed. To subscribe to one or more of these lists, please visit the appropriate link(s):

System Announcement Lists
These are low-volume lists as compared to the System Status lists. Messages of interest to all users (system upgrades, long-term outages, etc.) are sent to these lists. Since they are low-volume lists and the information sent is important to all users, users are automatically subscribed to these lists when their accounts are set up. NCCS Weekly Update
Each week, typically on Friday afternoon, an email announcing the next week’s scheduled outages is sent to all users. This message also includes meeting announcements and other items of interest to all NCCS users. If you are an NCCS user but are not receiving this weekly message, please contact the NCCS User Assistance Center at help@nccs.gov.
System Status Page and System Calendars
The NCCS System Status Page shows the current status of selected NCCS systems. The status arrow for each system is a hyperlink to that system’s calendar page. The system calendar pages show past downtimes and known future scheduled outages. Links to specific system calendars are also available here:

Message of the Day
In addition to other methods of notification, the system motd or “Message of the Day” that is echoed upon login shows recent downtimes. Important announcements are also posted to the motd. Users are encouraged to take a look at the motd upon login to see if there are any important notices.
