2008 NCCS Blue Gene/P Workshop
When: TBA
Where: Pollard Technology Conference Center (Oak Ridge, TN)

Overview
Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and IBM have teamed to bring the next generation of the IBM Blue Gene/P supercomputer to the National Center for Computational Sciences (NCCS) at Oak Ridge National laboratories (ORNL). The Blue Gene/P system configuration, with 8,192 compute cores, will provide more than 27 teraflops of computing capability.
This new system has completed acceptance testing and will enter production in May 2008. The NCCS and IBM are presenting a 3-day workshop to provide an introduction to the IBM Blue Gene/P computing environment, describe the policies associated with obtaining access to the system, and demonstrate the features unique to this system that facilitate productive science. Attendees are encouraged to bring their applications with them. The workshop will feature adequate time for “hands-on” sessions on the system and assistance from IBM experts in porting applications to the BG/P system.
The workshop will be held on June 3 - 5, 2008, at the Pollard Technology Conference Center , in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. There is no registration fee, however, registration is required and there will be a limited number of available workshop seats.
The workshop is open only to members of ORNL, and the following
universities:
- Duke University
- Florida State University
- Georgia Institute of Technology
- North Carolina State University
- University of Virginia
- University of Tennessee
- Vanderbilt University
- Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University
The workshop will be led by staff from IBM¹s Deep Computing Emerging Solution Executive team.
